Managing Your Subscription

Everything related to your billing and subscription can be managed from the Billing section in your dashboard sidebar.

Viewing Your Current Plan

The Billing page shows you:
  • Your current plan and its features
  • Coin balance — How many coins you have remaining this period
  • Coins allocated — Your total monthly coin allocation
  • Next billing date — When your subscription renews and coins refresh

Upgrading Your Plan

To upgrade to a higher plan:

Go to Billing

Click Billing in the sidebar.

Click Upgrade or Change Plan

You’ll see the available plans with their features and pricing.

Select your new plan

Choose the plan you want and your preferred billing frequency (monthly or annual).

Confirm and pay

Enter or confirm your payment method and complete the upgrade.
When you upgrade:
  • Your new plan takes effect immediately
  • You receive the new plan’s full coin allocation right away
  • You’re charged the prorated difference for the current billing period

Downgrading Your Plan

You can downgrade to a lower plan at any time:
  1. Go to Billing and click Change Plan
  2. Select the lower plan
  3. Confirm the downgrade
When you downgrade:
  • The change takes effect at the end of your current billing period
  • You keep your current plan’s features and coins until then
  • At the next billing cycle, you’ll switch to the new plan with its coin allocation

Switching Between Monthly and Annual

You can switch between monthly and annual billing at any time from the Billing page. Annual billing saves you money — see the Plans & Pricing page for the exact savings.

Updating Your Payment Method

To update your credit card or payment method:

Go to Billing

Click Billing in the sidebar.

Click Update Payment Method

You’ll be directed to a secure page to enter your new payment details.

Save your new method

Enter your new card details and save. Future charges will use this payment method.

Viewing Billing History

Your billing page shows a history of past payments and transactions, including:
  • Subscription charges
  • Plan changes
  • Payment method updates

Cancelling Your Subscription

If you need to cancel your subscription:
  1. Go to Billing
  2. Click Cancel Subscription
  3. Confirm the cancellation
When you cancel:
  • You keep access to your current plan until the end of the billing period
  • After the period ends, your account reverts to the Free plan (100 coins/month)
  • Your chatbots, knowledge base, and settings are preserved — they’re not deleted
  • You can resubscribe at any time to restore your previous plan level
Cancelling doesn’t delete your account or data. Your chatbots will continue to work on the Free plan’s 100 coins per month, and you can upgrade again whenever you’re ready.

Common Questions

What happens if my payment fails?

If a payment can’t be processed, you’ll be notified by email. Your plan continues for a short grace period while you update your payment method.

Can I get a refund?

Contact Chatref support for refund requests. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis.

Do unused coins carry over?

No. Coins reset at the beginning of each billing period. Unused coins do not roll over to the next month.

Can I have multiple subscriptions?

Each workspace has one subscription. If you need separate billing for different projects, create separate workspaces.
